It's foolish of @ScottMorrisonMP's Govt to so quickly welcome President Xi’s latest geopolitical ambition while #China engages in crude trade coercion against Australia. We have a veto on who joins #CPTPP. We shouldn't throw away our leverage. #CPP #auspol afr.com/politics/feder…

"[A] collective international boycott of the Winter #Olympics will become a live and potent option to stand up against Beijing’s human rights abuses and push back against its increasingly rampant behaviour." Good analysis by @citowicki. China #CCP #auspol thediplomat.com/2020/11/contin…

@SylvieAlf I support Helen Haines’ proposal but I won’t get to vote on it because it will NEVER make it out of the House of Reps. Rather it will languish just like Larissa Waters’ ICAC Bill that I voted for, and that passed the Senate, and has since gone nowhere in the the House #auspol https://t.co/yhSMVlm0gT

Meat, coal, cotton, barley, now lobsters. Wine is in the firing line as well. One wonders when Trade Minister @Birmo last spoke to his Chinese counterpart? The pattern is clear. #China has weaponised our trade dependence against us. We must diversify. asia.nikkei.com/Economy/Trade/…

Over 40% of young men think hitting, punching, restraining, frightening, humiliating, degrading or punishing a partner isn’t DV. 50% believe non-consensual sexual sex isn’t rape. These concerning stats show how much DV work still needs to be done. #auspol smh.com.au/lifestyle/life…

. @ANAO_Australia's #CovidSafe audit would 'examine the design and procurement processes for the app, how effectively it has been promoted and the extent to which it has assisted in contact tracing’. COVID-19 won’t go away soon. This audit must proceed. anao.gov.au/work/performan…

@Captain93260035 Again, you are wrong. In the ‘Defence Papers’ case the High Court ruled that is the court that decides whether something is secret or not. The Executive cannot be the judge in its own cause. Here’s the link to the case. Learn first, then comment! www8.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/viewdo…

While this has been a terrible terrible week for unis, I was pleased to be able to get a win for one of the them. After more than 12 months of advocacy the Govt has granted $20M to Adelaide Uni’s @TheAIML to develop further advancements in artificial intelligence #auspol #saparli https://t.co/F4y8KBaTg2

Whether we develop AI here or buy it from overseas, it's coming. So, let's do it here with our own bright young people from the @TheAIML and then assist them exporting it to the world. I’d rather it be Aussie AI, designed by, controlled by, and exported by us. #auspol #saparli

The @AUSOlympicTeam walks the opening ceremony behind an Aussie flag and so it is Australia that decides whether our athletes go to the @Beijing2022. It is not the exclusive decision of some committee in a Switzerland or of Mr John Coats. #auspol afr.com/companies/spor…
